Meet Local Creatives

Welcome to Meet Local Creatives—a space dedicated to the real, everyday stories behind the hands that make.

This isn't just a directory or a gallery to discover artists. It’s a home for the stories of local people who need creativity in their lives, and the honest, practical ways they make space for it.

Creativity looks different for everyone. It’s the mother juggling family life and work while upcycling wool fleece into vibrant, one-of-a-kind batwing jumpers. It’s the practising artist balancing the bills with the paintbrushes. It’s the local pop using watercolour and walking meditations to rebuild his fine motor skills and speech after a stroke.

These are local, real-life stories about making art fit into the chaos, beauty, and routine of everyday life. We hope these profiles inspire you to keep honouring your own creative spark, remind you that your ideas are worth making space for, and invite you to pull up a chair with our wonderful community.

The Locals acknowledge the traditional custodians of country and culture – the Noongar nation, where we are based, and by extension the Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islanders of Australia and to First Nations’ cultures across the oceans. We recognise and are inspired by the continuing connection to ancestral knowledge and story, whilst also nurturing contemporary culture.
