For the 2026 International Women’s Day The Locals hosted their first open studio. It was a simple gathering at the Women’s Shed for a day of making and meaningful talk. The 2026 global theme is Balance the Scales, and we created a space to discuss what that looks like in our own lives—all while keeping our hands busy.

Whether you had a half-finished project gathering dust at home or wanted to dive into the treasures found in our shed, everyone was welcome.

While the day wasn’t heavily advertised, the event still drew ten local creatives—some eager to tinker and create, others simply happy to ‘be’ and chat. It was a wonderful start to meeting our community and building connections through creativity.
